"Audiences
rarely experience so expert a combination of vocal and acting
abilities" (Grant, Sunbury, PA). Kimilee Bryant, native of
South Carolina has performed the role of Christine Daae in Andrew
Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, Switzerland,
Toronto and to critical acclaim on the U.S. national tour. She
was a soloist in a staged production of Handel's Messiah
at Lincoln Center. "Kimilee Bryant was lovely in 'Come unto
Him'" (James R. Oestreich, The New York Times). The work
was also performed at The Utrecht Early Music Festival in Holland.
Other New York City credits include: Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore,
Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Casilda in The
Gondoliers at City Center; Elsie in The Yeomen of the Guard,
Phyllis in Iolanthe and Aline in The Sorcerer at
Symphony Space. She debuted as soloist with the National Chorale
at Avery Fisher Hall.
Ms. Bryant
made her debut with Portland opera as Frasquita in Carmen,
singing Micaela for the previews. As a Resident Artist of Portland
Opera, she performed Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Pamina
and Second Lady in An American Magic Flute, and Alice in
Through the Opera Glass as well as mainstage previews of
Man of La Mancha (Antonia) and Die Fledermaus (Adele).
Ms. Bryant has also appeared with the Brevard Music Center Opera,
Aspen Opera, Greenville Symphony (SC), Spartanburg Symphony (SC),
Piedmont Opera (NC) and Opera Ontario.
She was a
regional Metropolitan Opera Auditions winner (1998) and earned
her Master's Degree in performance from the Manhattan School of
Music. She has studied ballet, tap, and jazz "since the playpen"
with Karen C. Bryant who also happens to be her mom. Currently,
she studies at Broadway Dance Center and studies acting with Terry
Schreiber at the T. Schreiber studio in New York. Stage work includes:
Sally in Talley's Folly, Stage Manager in Our Town,
Sharon in Master Class and Marian in The Music Man,
Maria in West Side Story -- "Bryant finds every nuance
of emotion in Maria" (The Daily item), Eliza in My Fair
Lady, Laurey in Oklahoma!, Maisie in The Boyfriend,
and Julie in Carousel. She regularly performs recitals,
concerts, benefits and other special events throughout the United
States. She has toured the US with the NY Gilbert and Sullivan
players and was seen as Betty in the recent production of John
Guare's Landscape of the Body directed by Terry Schreiber
at the T. Schreiber Studio. Other recent credits include: Mabel
in The Pirates of Penzance for The Sacramento Music Circus
and RiversideTheatre's Showtune (A Jerry Herman Revue).
She will perform "Zerlina" in Don Giovanni in
April 2005 for the Boheme Opera of NJ.
