Soprano Jessica
Tivens is a native of Los Angeles, California. Having studied
music since the ripe old age of two and a half, she has established
herself as a fresh new force in the classical music community.
Ms. Tivens has performed solo in some of the nation's top venues
including Dodger Stadium, Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall,
to name a few. She has performed recitals for former President
and Senator Clinton, Nancy Reagan, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and
many more. Ms. Tivens made her international debut performing
two sold-out concerts in Reykjavik, Iceland at the age of 16.
Under the tutelage of the famed mezzo-soprano, Marilyn Horne,
Ms. Tivens made her official New York Recital debut and also has
performed leading roles at the prestigious Music Academy of the
West. Other credits include her critically acclaimed Cherubino
in Le Nozze di Figaro for Festival Opera Walnut Creek and two
more appearances with the company as Rosina in Il Barbiere di
Siviglia and Sophie in Werther. Continuing her work in the Bay
Area, she was a member of the San Francisco Opera's Merola Program
for the summer of 2003, where she portrayed Monica in Menotti's
The Medium. Recently, Ms. Tivens completed her apprentice training
at Seattle Opera as a Young Artist in Residence. While there,
she performed the role of Despina in Cosi fan Tutte to glowing
reviews from critics and audiences alike.
